Micro-Organisms :-

Micro-Organisms were firstly noticed by Leeuwenhoek !

Micro - Organisms are defined as the too small Organisms which aren't seen by naked eye . We can observe them by using Microscopes .

Major Group of Micro -

Organisms are divided as :-

  • Virus
  • Bacteria
  • Fungi
  • Protozoa
  • Algae .

[ Virus ]

▶They are too small they have crystalline structure from outside the host body . they are too smaller even than bacteria .

▶They can be said either living as well as non living . They used to reproduce rapidly . They obtain nutrition from the host of the cell .

[ Bacteria ]

▶They are found every where around us . even in our hands mouths ( everywhere) . They can only seen by Microscopes . They are unicellular organisms . They are present even in soil , water , plants animals and even in us .They have different shapes like - Spherical , Spiral etc. They obtain their food by feeding on dead and decaying matter . Bacteria have prokaryotic structure .They also derive the nutrition from the host body .They reproduce by using the process of Binary fisson .

Bacteria are of different types they are harmful as well as useful in some ways too .

[ Fungi ]

▶Fungi are like plant type organisms . They have cell wall made up of fungal cellulose ,but they don't have Chlorophyll .

Due to this they can't synthesis their food .

▶They are used to found in moist places having moderate temperature . such as breads , rotting fruits etc.

▶Fungi reproduce budding and by spore formation also. They may be said as multi cellular either as unicellular . They can be saprophytic.

[ Algae ]

▶They are the primitive plants simple . They are having chlorophyll so that they can obtain their food own .

▶Another name - Sea weeds .

▶They are usually find in aquatic habitats like lakes , rivers etc.

There ranges are from 1 micron to several metres . They have thalloid type body and they can be said as multi cellular and either as unicellular organisms .

▶The pigment present in Algae are

Green pigment - Spirogyra

Blue - green pigment - Anabaena

Brown pigment - Fucus

Red pigment - Polysiphonia

Golden- brown pigment - Diatoms

▶They also use the process of Binary fisson for reproduction .

[ Protozoa ]

▶They have animal like characteristics and they are unicellular organisms . They are found in different places like pools , ditches , soil etc .

▶Their size vary from 2 to 200 microns .

▶They are having heterotrophic mode of nutrition .They are symbiotic in nature.

▶Only Euglena has autotrophic mode of nutrition .

They are having variety of shapes like Amoeba and Euglena .

▶They used to reproduce by using three process that is Binary fisson , Spore formation and budding also .

▶They are beneficial and harmful too .
