Heating Effect Of Current :
When an electric current is passed through a high resistance wire, like nichrome wire, the resistance wire becomes very hot and produces heat. This is called the heating effect of current. The heating effect of current is used in electric irons, electric heaters, electric ovens, filament bulbs etc.
Advantages :
- When an electrical current flows through the conductor, a neighborhood of it's converted into heat. This is often a waste of energy.
- The warmth produced can damage the insulation and other electrical components, or maybe cause a fireplace.
- Reduces the lifetime of several components within the circuit.
