For example,if Zinc is placed in a solution of copper(II) sulphate, the Zinc being more electropositive and willing to donate electrons easily displaces copper from its solutions.

Zn+CuSO4===>ZnSO4+Cu

Ionically; Zn(s)+Cu2+(aq)===>Zn2+(aq)+Cu(s)
