Double fertilization is a remarkable process by which one of the male gamete represented by pollen fuses with the egg to form a zygote.

This phenomenon is called syngamy. Another male gamete fuses two nuclei to form a triploid primary Reggio spurious.

This is termed triple fusion. As bifunctional fertilization process takes place at the same time hence the name is called double fertilization.
