Fungi that live within functional and healthy plant tissues for all or part of their life cycle. The associations of endophytic fungi with their host plants are varied and complex, being mostly a cryptic phenomenon in nature.
Endophytic include a wide variety of microorganisms including fungi, bacteria and viruses. There are currently two different means of classifying endophytes.
