Hi buddy

Here is your answer

According to Fajan's Rule the covalent character in an ionic bond can be explained as , if two oppositely charged ions are brought together, the nature of the bond between them depends upon the effect of one ion on the other.

Hope it help you

Answer:

Fajans’ rule predicts whether a chemical bond will be covalent or ionic. Few ionic bonds have partial covalent characteristics which were first discussed by Kazimierz Fajans in 1923. In the time with the help of X-ray crystallography, he was able to predict ionic or covalent bonding with the attributes like ionic and atomic radius.

Covalent character of ionic bonds

Covalent character of ionic bondsWhen cations and anions approach each other, the valence shell of anions are pulled towards cation nucleus due to the coulombic attraction and thus shape of the anion is deformed. This phenomenon of deformation of anion by a cation is known as polarization and the ability of cation to polarize a nearby anion is called as polarizing power of cation.
