In a democracy, the government is formed by representatives elected by the people. The government is supposed to work for the welfare of the people. Democracy provides the highest authority and power to the people of a country. All democracies in the world had to struggle much to achieve a democratic form of government. For example, India and South Africa achieved democracy after a great struggle.

A democratic government is formed through election, where the people choose their representatives. These representatives then form the government. Elections are held after every 5 years throughout the country where every adult citizen of the country votes and can stand for the elections.
