1) LATITUDE Latitude effects climate depending on how close you are to the equator. If you are close to the equator then the climate is warmer, if your farther away then it is colder, in general. The reason for this is that the closer you are to the equator, the more directly the sun's rays go through the Earth's atmosphere. This rule is complicated by many things, including ocean currents and weather patterns, but in general: the closer you are to the equator, the warmer it will be.
2) ALTITUDE As, one goes from the surface of the earth to higher altitudes, the atmosphere becomes less dense and temperature decreases. The hills are therefore cooler during summer. As we go higher and higher the temperature decreases 1 degree for every 165Km in height.
3) PRESSURE AND WIND SYSTEM Climate depends on where winds are blowing from. For example, if a wind is blowing from the equator, the climate in the region would naturally be hotter as the equator region receives direct sunlight. However, if the wind is blowing from the polar regions, the area would be colder due to low temperatures.
4) DISTANCE FROM SEA Distance from sea is a factor that affects the climate of a place. The coastal areas are cooler and wetter than the inland areas. When warm air from the inland areas meets the cool air from the sea, clouds form. The inland heats and cools faster than the sea and for that reason the coastal areas have a lower temperature range compared to the inland areas. On the coast, the winters are mild and summers are cool whereas in inland areas temperatures are cold in the winter and high in the summer.
5) OCEAN CURRENTS they transport and redistribute salt and heat. both play a role in driving the planetary climate engine. two important currents are western boundary currents and eastern boundary currents.
6) RELIEF Mountains affect climate as mountains receive more rainfall than lower lying areas because the temperatures on top of the mountains are lower that the temperatures at sea level. This is why snow on the peak of mountains can be seen all year round. As altitude increases, air becomes thinner and is less able to absorb and retain heat.
