Hey Sisu!
Its believed that India was a part of super continent Pangea's northern land " Gondwana Land ". The peninsular landmass of this land is one of the oldest landass. The countries which were part of it were : India, Australia, South Africa, South America and Antartica.
But conventional currents broke Gondwana land into numerous peices and Indo Australian plate was driften towards north. This northward drift led to collision of indo Australian palte woth much bigger Eurasian plate.
Thus, the sedimentary rocks accumulated at geosyncline known as Tethys folded to form mountain system of West Asia and Himalayas.
Hope it helps
