As a cell enters metaphase from prophase, nuclear membrane disappears. Chromosomes are tightly coiled and each chromosome is now made of two chromatids, attached at centromere. Spindle apparatus is fully formed during metaphase, made of spindle fibres. ... Metaphase plate lies perpendicular to spindle apparatus.
