Answer:-

The different forms of power sharing in modern democracies are:-

  • Horizontal Distribution of Power: The power is shared among the different organs of government, such as the legislature, executive and judiciary.

  • Vertical Distribution of Power: The power is shared among governments at different levels– a Central government for the entire country and governments at the provincial or regional level.

  • Distribution of Power among different Social Groups: Power may also be shared among different social groups. In some countries, legal arrangements are made where the socially weaker sections and women are represented in legislatures and administration.

  • In a democracy, power is shared among different political parties, pressure groups and movements. Democracies provide the citizen a choice to choose their representatives. Such a choice is provided by various political parties, who contest elections to win them. Such competition ensures that power does not remain in one hand and is shared among different political parties representing different ideologies and social groups.
