➶➶➶➶➶ Sulphur is extracted from underground deposits. Super-heated water is pumped into sulphur deposit. It melts sulphur. The extracted sulphur is highly pure (99.7 %).
Three concentric tubes are introduced into sulphur deposit. Super-heated water (170 deg C, 2.5-3 MPa) is injected into the deposit via an outermost tube. The melting point of sulphur is 115 deg C. Sulphur melts. Molten sulphur flows into the middle tube.
Hot air is introduced via the innermost tube to froth the sulphur. It makes sulphur less dense and pushes it to surface.
_______________________________
Properties of sulphur:
1) Sulphur is not sonorous.
2) Sulphur is bad conductor of heat and electricity.
3) Sulphur is soft
4) On tapping with the hammer, sulphur changes into a powdery substance.
