Helen Keller started reading in 1887 and she had a great love for books, on her trip to Boston, she spent a lot of time reading from one book to another, she enjoyed reading a lot with the help of Miss Sullivan she read 'Little Lord Fauntleroy' and this book became Helen's companion in her childhood. There a lot of books she read, which included; 'Little Women', 'Jungle Book', 'Wild Animals I have known' and a lot more. She also enjoyed reading Greek literature, the reason why she found books good was that she believed that for someone to love literature there is a need of heart rather than an interpreter.
The book which Helen enjoyed the most was Bible, and apart from literature Helen enjoyed reading history too and World History was one of her favorites. Helen described literature as 'Utopia' because while reading literature she felt there is no barrier to her senses and she understood everything so well and she could feel it more than understanding it.

Helen Keller loved books. She took comfort in them and enjoyed reading. She sometimes read independently with raised print or Braille books. At times, others read to her by fingerspelling the words from the book into her hand. In her autobiography The Story of My Life, Helen explained "how much [she had] depended on books not only for pleasure and for the wisdom they bring to all who read, but also for that knowledge.
