here is your answer

heterotrophic nutrition: it is a mode of nutrition in which organisms cannot synthesize their own food, but they are dependent on other organisms for food by killing them or without killing them.

Example: Yeast, fungi , bacteria and animals ( lion, tiger, monkey etc ).

The three types of heterotrophic nutrition are:

  1. Saprophytic nutrition: Saprophytes (animals which follow saprophytic nutrition) feed on dead and decayed for energy. They consume dead and decayed remains of plants and animals. In this way they help to clean the environment. Some examples of saprophytic are fungi and certain types of bacteria.
  2. Parasitic nutrition: Organisms which feed on deriving out nutrition from other animals are called parasites. Examples : Cuscuta plants and tape worms.
  3. Holozoic Nutrition: Humans follow holozoic Nutrition. Holozoic Nutrition means feeding of solid and liquid food by animals. This involves steps of ingestion, digestion, absorption, assimilation and excretion.

Based on feeding habits heterotrophs are classified as herbivores, carnivorous, and omnivores.
