Horizontal power-sharing in a modern democracy means the power-sharing between Judiciary, Executive and the Legislature.
Whereas, vertical power sharing means the share of power between the Central, State, and Local power authorities.

Power sharing is form of government in which the power is divided between a central authority and various constituent units of the country.
¤ Horizontal power sharing :
It divides power among legislature, executive and Judiciary at the same level. In this each organ check each other.

It shares power at different levels namely centre, state and local self government.
