probably not...the vertical stripes are that way for a reason...when zebra are in a herd and running,like say away from a predator, the vertical stripes make it near impossible for the predator to focus on a single animal,thus making it safer for the zebra...horizontal stripes do not have the same effect optically...horizontal stripes on an animal like a snake makes them appear to not be moving at all,thus making it less noticable to predators...the stripes in both cases are an optical illusion to fool enemies...

in very simple terms, if the horizontal striped zebra adaptation possesses a reproductive advantage over vertical striped forms it will express itself more.....
