Anne was lonely because she didn't have any real friends. Anne believed in the fact that she could patiently write in her diary and express all feelings in it. She thought that paper had more patience that actual real people who she came across in daily life. Even though Anne had loving parents, she felt more comfort this way. She was lonely and often felt suffocated. That suffocated and pressure would often get released because she would let it all out on paper. This diary writing was a release for her.
