Answer:

Chandragupta turned a small kingdom into a mighty empire because he was great commander and military leader also he had a great advisor i.e. Chanakya.

Explanation:

  1. The empire ruled by Ashoka was founded by his grandfather Chandragupta Maurya more than 2300 years ago.
  2. Chandrgupta was advised by Chanakya . Many of his ideas are written in a book called Arthashastra.
  3. There were several cities in the empire including Pataliputra, Taxila and Ujjain.
  4. Chandragupta and Chankya finally captured the capital of Magadha in 321 BC.
  5. He extended his empire upto river Indus, taking back parts of Alexander's empire and laying the basis of Maurayan empire.
  6. By the end of Chandragupta's rule , kingdom of Magadha had become an empire.
  7. The Maurayan empire stretches from Hindu Kush in the west to Bengal in the east, and from Himalays in the north to the Narmada in central India.
