Millions of year ago, dense forest got buried under the soil due to normal processes like storm, floods, and earthquakes. this got decompressed as more and more soil got deposited over them. when they got buried deep in the soil, they where exposed to very high pressure and temperature. under these conditions, these slowly got converted into coal. this process of formation of coal from dead vegetation is called carbonisation.

areas. Due to natural processes like flooding, these got buried under the soil.

More and more soil got deposited over them and they got compressed more. This  led them to get exposed to very high temperature and pressure. They slowly got  converted into coal under these extreme conditions. The whole process of  formation of coal from dead vegetation is known as carbonization.
