Iswaran turned the mind of Mahendra's little hesitant by narrating him the devil legend. When Mahendra reprimanded him for holding the perception about the ghosts, he felt provoked. To illustrate that he was annihilated he pretended to be a ghost and terrorized him. So, that is why Mahendra believed that he had witnessed a ghost which was an incident of full moonlight.
