describe how lightning occurs
Answers
When 2 clouds with a lot of charge comes together there is a flow of charge downwards due to repel and attraction of charges and this makes the phenomena of lightning occurs.
Due to some process which has not yet fully been explained. Positive charges accumulate in the upper half of the clouds and negative charges accumulate in the lower half. The negative charges which are close to the earth positively charge the earth by induction. When there is accumulation of heavy charges, the air which is usually a poor conductor of electricity can’t resist the flow of charges. The charges from the clouds and earth meet producing streaks of light and sound which we call lightning. This process is also called electric discharge. It may also occur between clouds.
