The following are some of the modern adoptions of old rainwater harvesting methods:

1. Rooftop rainwater accumulation: this is a traditional method now followed by the people of Shillong and Meghalaya. The rooftop water conservation method has been also adopted by the Mysore, more particularly by the Gendathur village. Two hundred households have adopted this method whereby making the village rich in rainwater.  

2. This method has provided many states of India with an adequate supply of water thus the govern-ment of Tamilnadu made the rooftop rainwater harvesting compulsory for all the households.
