Rupert Morrison added a specific medicine to Manning’s drink, after consuming which he lost his consciousness.

Soon after he took an unconscious Manning to the kitchen, put his head inside the gas oven and switched on the burner.

All the arrangements were planned in such a manner that the entire incident would look like an accident and it would be thought that an excessively drunk Manning unknowingly put his head into the gas oven.
