Fruits usually are a product of sexual reproduction in flowering plants. When fertilisation occurs, a seed is formed. In order to protect the seed from unfavourable conditions during their growth and maturity, a fruit develops. Fruit is nothing but a ripened ovary of the plant if we talk in a little botany here. The reason many fruits are sugary and tasty is that the plant has put in a lot of sugar, pectin, organic acids, minerals and vitamins for the survival of its upcoming generation.
Humans, animals, birds, rodents whosoever enjoys the fruit, helps the plant disperse it's seed. The fruit we can say is a reward for other organisms who help the plant in its seed dispersal.

Here is the answer to your question!!
After fertilization the ovary begins to grow and forms the fruit.
The fruit may be sweet and juicy ( like mango and orange) or they may be hard and Woody ( like almond and walnut )
The fruit is thus actually a ripped ovary.
Hope it helped
