in ozymandias, Shelley brings out the futility of power and riches through the dilapidated statue of ozymandias who ruled Egypt centuries ago. Only the legs and the broken head of the statue remain, with a plaque proclaiming him to be the most powerful king in the world, ironically surrounded by the desert all around. This signifies that even immeasurable power and riches cannot hold the flow of time, and it's better to be remembered for our good deeds then some empty and mocking words.
