earlier, the Indian subcontinent and the Eurasian continent were not joined together .
shortly, Indian subcontinent move towards the Eurasian continental plate and is still moving. and when the collision of two plates occur the Himalayan ranges have been formed.
little detail :-
what happen was when Indian subcontinent collide with the Eurasian continent ,due to collision the Indian subcontinental plate being denser gets subducted beneath the Eurasian plate . due to which the magma rises and solidifies and it leads to formation of mountains with time.
the movement of Indian subcontinent is still happening (approx.5 cm every year) and the debris keeps moving away from the place of origin and keeps on depositing in the basins and forming new mountains.
in this way the Himalayan ranges have formed.
I hope this is helpful :)
