The Himalayan mountain range and Tibetan plateau have formed as a result of the collision between the Indian Plate and Eurasian Plate which began 50 million years ago and continues today. 225 million years ago (Ma) India was a large island situated off the Australian coast and separated from Asia by the Tethys Ocean.

____________

The Indian peninsula was swept north and eventually collided with a large Eurasian plate.

As a result of this collision, the sediment rock deposited in Geosynthesis (known as Tethys) was transformed and
the mountain system of West Asia and Himalayas was formed..

India is part of Gondwana Land which was due to the decisive process.

200 million years ago, Gondwana was divided into land pieces and the Indian plateau moved north-east and collided with the Eurasian plate.

Due to this collision the mountains are formed.

Currently he is known as Himalaya....
