a pitcher plants leaf lamina is modified to form a pitcher like structure. the apex of the leaf is modified into a lid which can open and close the mouth of the pitcher. inside the pitcher there are hair like structures that are directed downwards. when an insect lands on the pitcher the lid getsc closed and the trapped insect gets entangled in the hair the insect is then digested by the digestive juices secreated by the pitcher
