Transpiration pull is responsible for dragging water at the leaf end, the pull or force is transmitted down to the root through a column of water in the xylem elements. The water will enter the plant via the root cells that can be found in the roots where mainly passive absorption occurs.

Answer:

- When transpiration takes place, the leaf cells become less turgid as they lose water in the  process. This causes the entry of water into the cells from the veins through osmosis. The veins  pull water from the stem, which in turn pulls water from the roots. This process is called  transpiration pull. Transpiration pull works because water forms a continuous column in the xylem.  This process is very much like drinking by using a straw.
