Vocational stress refers to the stress caused because of one's professional settings. It can be caused because of a number of reasons, like the fear of losing one's job, working overtime, not getting credit for one's efforts, being pushed to meet unrealistic targets, being blamed unfairly, not getting along with the boss or colleagues, or being forced to compromise with one's honesty. In any case, vocational stress causes feelings of fear and anxiety, which greatly affects family life.

A high degree of stress or anxiety makes one irritable and impatient. The person becomes unpredictable and easily loses his/her temper with family members. Tantrums become common and the rest of the family start avoiding the individual. A disconnect starts setting in, pushing him/her further into depression. This leads to a lack of confidence and eventually with growing frequency of arguments, family life does not remain peaceful.
