Heya

We know that 39 can be written as 30+9 and according to distributive property,(a+b)×c = ac+bc

So, 39×5 can be written as (30+9) ×5

=> 30×5 + 9×5

=>150+45

=>195

Hope your doubt is cleared

The value of (39 × 5) on simplifying using the distributive property will be equal to 195.

Given:

The given expression is equal to (39 × 5).

To Find:

The value of (39 × 5) using the distributive property.

Solution:

→ According to the distributive property of multiplication, when a number is multiplied by the sum of two numbers, then the first number can be distributed and multiplied by each of the numbers separately. The addition of the two products together will give the same result as multiplying the first number by the sum.

→ According to the distributive property, the value of a(b + c) can be written as: a(b + c) = (a×b) + (a×c).

(39 × 5) is equivalent to (5 × 39), therefore now calculating the value of (5 × 39) using the distributive property:

  • We would write (39) as (40 - 1):

∴ (5 × 39) = 5 × (39)

                 = 5 × (40 - 1)

                 = (5 × 40) - (5 × 1)

                 = (200) - (5)

                 = 195

Therefore the value of (39 × 5) on simplifying using the distributive property comes out to be equal to 195.
