Describe in breif the classification made by mendaleyev
Answers
Explanation:
Mendeleev made classification mainly on two factors: i) Increasing order of atomic masses, ii) grouping together elements having similar properties i.e. grouping together elements that have similar general formula of their oxides and hydrides. And this is how he placed the elements in his periodic table.
In 1869, Mendeleev made remarkable contribution to the classification of elements. The law states that the physical and chemical properties of elements are periodic function of their atomic weights . On the basis of this periodic law, he arranged all the known elements in the form of table known as periodic table.
Mendeleev realized that the physical and chemical properties of elements were related to their atomic mass in a 'periodic' way, and arranged them so that groups of elements with similar properties fell into vertical columns in his table.
