age of fossil can be estimated through two ways
1. Carbon-14 dating. In this method the the ratio of different isotopes of carbon in the fossil are detected and approx. age of fossil is predicted.
2. To find the age of rocks where the fossil is preserved.
In this method layer by layer of soil and rocks is dug and as deeper we go older the fossils we get. from the age of rocks approx. age of fossil can be predicted
