King Tut's tomb contained spellbinding artefacts. There were gold necklaces. bracelets, amulets, rings, metal pots with fold inlay work, sandals and sheaths for the fingers and toes. It was the richest treasure, till then, found in a pharaoh's tomb. Tutankhamun Pharaoh's tomb. Tutankhamun's was a rich dynasty and it reflected in the buried treasure. Therefore it became an interesting place to visit for historians as well as tourists.
Content of Tomb
The content of the tomb contained such fabulous treasures that the very thought fills people with awe inspiring wonder. The spectacular find by Howard Carter in November 1922 produced approximately 3,000 separate objects, many of which were pure gold. There were so many artefacts that Howard Carter spent 10 years clearing and cataloguing the items in the tomb of King Tut. There were so many items that we have not listed these items individually, but never-the-less this page will provide and indication of the fabulous wealth and treasures - the content of tomb.
Tomb - the Treasure found in the tomb
The tomb was hastily prepared due to the untimely death of the young pharaoh, it is much smaller than the normal royal tombs measuring 3.68 m or 12.07 ft high, 7.86 m or 25.78 ft wide and 30.79 m or 101.01 ft long. The antechamber was piled high, in disarray, with gold-covered furniture and dismantled chariots. The annex was full of more gold covered furniture, jars of precious oils and ointments and also food and wine. The burial chamber contained the gold covered shrines and coffins of Tutankhamun including the fabulous solid gold coffin and the famous Death Mask of King Tut. The 'Treasury' was guarded by the magnificent statue of the god Anubis and contained jewel chests containing priceless jewelry, model boats and the golden shrine which contained the canopic jars which housed the internal organs.
