There are three divisions of Himalayas :-

Himadri :- The Northernmost range is known as Greater Himalayas or Himadri. It is consisting loftiest peaks. The average height is about 6000 m. It is composed of Granite.


Himachal :- The range lying to the south of himadri is known as Himachal or Lesser Himalayas. It is composed of highly compressed altered rocks. The average height is about 3700 m to 4500 m.


Shiwaliks :- The outermost range of Himalayas is known as Shiwaliks. It is composed of unconsolidated sediments. The average height is about 900 m to 1100 m.
