• Peat :-

1. Peat is 1st stage in process of Formation of coal.
2. It get's oxidized to water & carbon dioxide.
3. During the 1st step peat contains most of the water.
4. Hence, Peat becomes brittle.

• Lignite :-

1. Lignite is 2nd stage of Formation of coal.
2. Here, it is Dark brown in colour.

4. Hence, Lignite becomes more harder than Peat.

• Bituminous Coal :-

1. Bituminous coal is 3rd stage in formation of coal
2. It contains abundant fuel.
3. It's also used as Heat Energy source in Industries.

• Anthracite :-

1. Anthracite is last step of formation of coal.
2. It contains purest form of coal.
3. It contains high pressure & huge reactivity.
4. It is also termed as Pure form Of Coal.
