Human reproduction naturally takes place as internal fertilization by sexual intercourse. ... This process is also known as "coitus", "mating", "having sex", or, euphemistically, "making love". The sperm and the ovum are known as gametes (each containing half the genetic information of the parent, created through meiosis).

Process of mating of humans :

  1. Mating of humans is called coitus or copulation.
  2. Mating is necessary for reproduction of offspring.
  3. As human beings are bisexual so there are two kinds of sex i.e. male and female (there is third gender know as transgender too).
  4. Male reproductive system consists of penis, scrotum, testes, epididymis, vas deferens, prostate, and seminal vesicles.
  5. Female reproductive system consists of vagina, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.
  6. During the process of copulation males use their penis and penetrate it in the vagina of the female which is also known as birth canal.
  7. Male reproductive cell is sperm whereas female reproductive cell is ovum.
  8. Then fertlization takes place in fallopian tube which is also called oviduct. During fertilization sperm and ovum fertilizes and leads to the formation of zygote.
  9. The zygote further forms a new individual.
  10. Then by course of 9 months a new baby is formed ; this period is called pregnancy period.
