describe in each case how would you separate the cations or anions in NaNO3 and Ba(NO3)2

it can be seperated by seperating both in ionic form.

Explanation:

NaNO3---------->Na+       +         NO3-   .

Ba (NO3)2------------>Ba2+      +        (NO3)2-    .

Na cotains only one positive(1+) charge while Ba has (2+)  charge....as in cation...so it will  transfer on the charge of anion...by criss - cross method.

that cation is taking how much charge from an anion .....that it is showing....

cation takes electron  ....so it has +ve charge....whereas anion gives electrons  ...so it has - ve charge.
