  • Ionic bonding is the complete transfer of valence electron(s) between atoms.
  • This bond is formed between the two oppositely charged ions.
  • Formation of ionic bond takes place when a metal looses an electron to become positively charged cation.
  • And a non metal accepts those electron and become negatively charged anion.
  • In case of NaCl (Sodium Chloride) Na+ is a metal which losses an electron and changes into cation where as Cl- accepts that electron and become anion.
