- Ionic bonding is the complete transfer of valence electron(s) between atoms.
- This bond is formed between the two oppositely charged ions.
- Formation of ionic bond takes place when a metal looses an electron to become positively charged cation.
- And a non metal accepts those electron and become negatively charged anion.
- In case of NaCl (Sodium Chloride) Na+ is a metal which losses an electron and changes into cation where as Cl- accepts that electron and become anion.
