Saturated hydrocarbons are the compounds containing only single covalent bonds. These are also known as alkanes. Unsaturated hydrocarbons are the straight chain compounds containing double or triple covalent bonds.
Hydrocarbons with a double bond between carbon atoms are known as alkenes. Hydrocarbons with triple bonds between carbon atoms are known as alkynes.

So, saturated compounds are saturated with hydrogen.

Saturated compounds have more number of hydrogen atoms when compared to its corresponding unsaturated hydrocarbons.

Saturated compounds are less reactive compared to unsaturated compounds.

Saturated compounds under go substitution reactions whereas unsaturated compounds under go addition reactions.

Saturated hydrocarbons burns with blue flame whereas unsaturated hydrocarbons burns with sooty flame.

SATURATED HYDROCARBONS-1)Hydrocarbons in which carbon atoms have single bond in between.they do not contain multiple(double/triple) bonds.
2)These include alkanes
3)have less carbon count but more amount of hydrogen.
4)Less reactive.
5)it gives blue ,non sooty flame on burning
6)found in plant and animal materials.
UNSATURATED HYDROCARBON-1)Hydrocarbons that contains at least one carbon-carbon double or triple bond in their chain
2)Include alkenes.,alkynes and aromatic hydrocarbons.
3)have large amount of carbon and less amount of hydrogen.
4)More reactive
5)it gives yellow sooty flame on burning.
6)found in plants in wax proteins, vegetable oils etc
Saturated compound is saturated with hydrogen stoms/particles.eg-like propane is saturated but propene is not saturated containing double bond and has two h-atoms less than propane.
