Mitochondria:

They are the double membraned bag like structure. Outer membrane is smooth and the inner is folded inwards to form cristae(gives large surface area for enzyme attachment) . they contain enzymes needed for aerobic oxidation of glucose.

Functions:

(i) they help in cellular respiration and release of energy in the form of ATP molecules.

(ii) they are popularly known as "powerhouse" of the cell.

Golgi apparatus:

It is also called the Golgi bodies or Golgi complex. it is composed of membrane-bound fluid filled vesicles, vacuoles and stack of many flattened closed sacs(cisternae). but in plant cell they are called dictyosomes.

Functions:

(i) it helps in the formation of cell plate during cell division.

(ii)it is involved in the synthesis of lysosomes and peroxisomes.
