For starch is iodine solution , pour it on the food a blue black colour comes.

For fats is ethanol or oil, pour it on food a white color appears or it becomes translucent.

For protein is Biuret solution ,by pouring it on food it becomes pink-purple.

Take a small quantity of a food item or a raw ingredient. Put 2-3 drops of dilute iodine solution on it .Observe if there is any change in the food item . Did it turn blue - black?

A blue- black colour indicates that it contains starch.
