The Ouija Board party was organized by Lavinia on Saturday. The narrator’s house was illuminated. Hallock to had to attend the party as he was to accompany Miss Laura Hinkle at the Ouija Board. All the women belonging to Lavinia’s book club were sitting in couples to play Ouija Board. Hallock did not want to attend the party because he feared Helen who had asked him to help her dissuade his friends from playing Ouija Board. However, he had to yield to his wife’s wish. He had to play the Ouija Board with Miss Hinkle.

As he began playing the Ouija Board, Helen’s spirit came in the Ouija Boards in the room and Every Ouija Board started calling his name. Lavinia, his wife was told about the bizarre phenomenon. Everyone became suspicious of Hallock’s relationship with Helen. Lavinia came charging at him and fixed him with an accusing stare. It was at this moment he felt helpless, embarrassed, cornered, and utterly unable to explain why Helen was calling his name. So in bafflement and embarrassment his ears grew crimson, purple, and maroon.

His very relationship with Lavinia was in danger. Lavinia decided to leave him. But fortunately, the misunderstanding was resolved at the end.

Lavinia brings an Ouija Board home and announces a party with the women from her Book Club. The writer, drowned in consternation by her declaration, tries to convince Lavina, his wife, to drop the idea. However, his wife made him a partner of Laura Hinkle, one of the women from the Book Club who is quite fond of Mr. Hallock (the author), to work on one of the Ouija boards. Though he tried to resist, his wife paid no heed. When the spirit descended, Laura asked it to tell something, the pointer started moving towards the letters to point out the word 'TRAITOR'. Bewildered, the writer had nothing to say so his partner asked the spirit to explain itself more fully. In response, the spirit spelt 'ASK HIM'. That was when the author realised that it was actually Helen who was trying to interact with them. Unable to explain, the author felt miserable and his wife Lavinia, who was already going ballistic, threatened to walk out on him.
just bcz of the ouija board their marriage was in the verge of breaking.
while lavinia and her book club members were using it only one name came TRAITOR who was none other than john.
everyone took it in a wrong way and lavi too.
then she decided to shift to grandma 's home and send a lawyer to john
