Oxidation:-

  1. addition of oxygen to an element or compound is called oxidation
  2. removal of hydrogen from a compound is called oxidation
  3. loss of electrons are called oxidation

Reduction:-

  1. removal of oxygen to an element is called reduction
  2. addition of hydrogen to an element is called reduction
  3. gain of electron is called reduction

Oxidising Agents:-

  1. Those compounds which are capable to who release oxygen are called oxidising agents.
  2. Those compounds which are capable to extract hydrogen from other compounds are called oxidising agents.
  3. Those compounds which itself get reduced to oxidize other compound are called oxidizing agent.
  4. Those compounds which are capable to gain electrons are called oxidizing agents
  5. eg:- ozone gas, oxygen gas, potassium permanent, potassium dichromate, hydrogen peroxide and more....

Reducing Agents:-

  1. Those compounds which are capable to absorb oxygen are called reducing agents.
  2. Those compounds which are capable to release hydrogen are called reducing agents.
  3. Those compounds which itself gets oxidized to reduce other compounds are called reducing agents.
  4. Those compounds which are capable to absorb electrons are called reducing agents.
  5. eg:- halogens, potassium cynide, coke, hydrogen, and more...
