Answer:
Oxidation:-
- addition of oxygen to an element or compound is called oxidation
- removal of hydrogen from a compound is called oxidation
- loss of electrons are called oxidation
Reduction:-
- removal of oxygen to an element is called reduction
- addition of hydrogen to an element is called reduction
- gain of electron is called reduction
Oxidising Agents:-
- Those compounds which are capable to who release oxygen are called oxidising agents.
- Those compounds which are capable to extract hydrogen from other compounds are called oxidising agents.
- Those compounds which itself get reduced to oxidize other compound are called oxidizing agent.
- Those compounds which are capable to gain electrons are called oxidizing agents
- eg:- ozone gas, oxygen gas, potassium permanent, potassium dichromate, hydrogen peroxide and more....
Reducing Agents:-
- Those compounds which are capable to absorb oxygen are called reducing agents.
- Those compounds which are capable to release hydrogen are called reducing agents.
- Those compounds which itself gets oxidized to reduce other compounds are called reducing agents.
- Those compounds which are capable to absorb electrons are called reducing agents.
- eg:- halogens, potassium cynide, coke, hydrogen, and more...
