Answer:

KI-H20 System: L(0°C) is the freezing point of water and is lowered by the addition of salt(KI). ... At M where LM & NM meet, three phases(ice, solid KI & solution) are in equilibrium, the system is invariant. M is the eutectic point(-23°C, 52%KI by mass).

hope it helps ⬆️⬆️☺

Explanation:

The phase diagram of kl-H20 system-,(1) The point of ice .the curve AB shows that the melting point of ice falls on adding solid kl.along AB curve ,the number of components is two :Kl and H20 and the number of phase in equilibrium are two :ice and solution .it is therefore mono variant system from the reduced phase rule equation. (2) think curve B is the eutectic point where a new solid phase kl separates. In addition to vapour phase other three phase in equilibrium are ice ,solid kl and the solution. This is the lowest temp at which three phase co -exist in equilibrium. Hence from the the reduced phase rule equation, we have ,F=C+1=2-3+1=0, eutectic point- two or more substances capable of forming solid solutions with each other have the properties of lowering each other freezing point. The minimum freezing point attained, corresponding to the eutectic mixture is called eutectic point.
