the process of synthesizing  food in plant  in the presence of sunlight is called photosynthesis .the chlorophyll ,a green pigment present in all green plants, traps the energy from the sun for the process of photosynthesis. there are tiny pores on the underside of the leaves called stomata. the plants take in carbon dioxide needed for photosynthesis through stomata. the roots of the plants of the plants absorb water and minerals from the soil and transport them up to leaves. In the presence of sunlight, carbon dioxide and water changes to glucose. the food is then transported  to all pats of the plant to perform various functions.
