Politics at its core is just dealing with people. The word is derived from the Greek word polis meaning people. I’d say it was in, almost all cases, no more than a skill learned by someone with a knack for dealing with people. Because of the often unsavory or even corrupt aspects associated with politics it is only an art when the politician rises above the surrounding egos, gimme gimme mentality & partitionship to enact a law or treaty for the greater good. That is the difference between a politician and a statesman.
