Well the molecular formula of oxalic acid is (COOH)2 . Well oxalic acid is made from a carbohydrate called sucrose  whose molecular formula is C12H22O11  . This sugar is oxidizised with nitric acid to produce oxalic acid

The chemical reaction is as follows :-

C12H22O11+18[HNO3] ------> 6(COOH)2+5H2O+14H2N

 

And the important uses of oxalic acid is as follows :-

It is used in bleaching

Restoration of old wood

And is also used in dyeing process
