Answer:

A reversible reaction is a chemical reaction in which the reactants and products are in equilibrium.

 e.g. A + B ⇆ C + D

Also in this, we get reactant back after the product is formed.

Reversible reactions will reach an equilibrium point where the concentrations of the reactants and products will no longer change.

  • Reversible reactions are chemical reactions that can occur in both directions, i.e. forward and backward.
  • The original reactants react to form the products, and the products also react with themselves to return to the original reactants.
  • These reactions are denoted by a double arrow [⇄].

Example Explanation:

H_{2} + I_{2}    ⇄   2HI

  1. When hydrogen and iodine vapours are heated in a closed flask, hydrogen iodide is formed. This is Forward Reaction.
  2. When only hydrogen iodide is heated in a closed flask, the formation of iodine vapours produces a purple colour. This is Reverse Reaction.
