Sumerian articles like a model ram, an edge and small pottery ring have been found in India.(c) Mesopotamian texts mention two intermediary trading centres, Dilmun (Modern Bahrein) Meluha and Magan (Oman) where goods of the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia were exchanged.(d) Meluhha and Magan are identified with the Harappan region. Meluhha was referred to as a land of seafarers.(e) Depictions of ships and boats have been found on seals which is indicative of trade relations.(f) Archaeological sources indicate that Harappans brought copper from Oman. Chemical analysis has shown that Omani copper and Harappan artefacts have traces of nickel, suggesting a common origin.(g) Moreover a large Harappan jar (vessel) has been found at Omani sites, the contents of which were exchanged for Omani copper.(h) Mesopotamian texts also refer to copper coming •from Magan (Possibly Oman) and copper found at Mesopotamian sites also contain traces of nickel.
